My first competition of 2012. I woke up this morning bright and early just to make sure I was ready and rerring to go. As we drove up to GL1, where the competition was held, we went from fog to gorgeous sunshine. I knew at that point I was ready for it.

I set up the bow, did my warm ups and placed myself on the line. I knew I had a hard few hours ahead of me but it was going to be worth it.  About two and a half hours later I shot my last arrow and I knew there was no stopping me. I knew I wouldn’t win the competition but for me just completing it I had won for myself.

It turned out I was 2 points off my PB and 1 point off of placing 3rd. At least I know I have it in me to do well even when i’m not 100% My aim now is to get a PB in the next competition because it the only way is up from here I am going to go to bed one happy bunny I think.

I'm Back!

So yesterday was the 25th February 2012. The first day I got to pick up my bow this year. If I’m being honest I didn’t know how it was going to go but I set up my bow, got my arrows and set myself up at the target hoping to do the best I could. The first arrow went straight into the center of gold. I turned round to see about 4 people stood there, all of which just went “Your back”.

When I started Archery and got my first gold it felt amazing, but this feeling was even better. Knowing I haven’t shot in so long and can do that – I can’t even describe the feeling.

I also managed to get some updated pictures of me shooting so take a peek. I’m just so glad to be back into it and I was at the place where it all started too. Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

It seem’s like ages ago I last posted on. Well, it actually was – I’ll start by saying Happy New Year to you all, a month or so late. Opsy.

Well this year so far has been very eventful. I haven’t been 100%, I’ve had glandular fever so that’s a bit of a step back but I’m still fighting and hoping to get shooting again really sooooon. I guess one thing I can say is not being able to shoot for so long has made me hungry for it. When I go nothing is stopping me!

There’s this saying I use ‘ There is no limit upon what you can do unless you limit yourself ‘ I’m staying true to that as always. The only difference at the minute is that my body just isn’t listening to my mind. All takes time.

I’ve found a photo of me shooting that I thought I’d upload so you can take a peak at me in action. When I next shoot I’ll make sure I get some new ones.

I woke up thinking this is it, my chance to find out what I have really got. Well, to be honest, for my first competition at that level I am happy with what I did. At the end of the last competition I posted that I would’ve like to beat my pb and increase the points I scored. I did both, so I came away one happy bunny.

So I have a new pb with a score of 544/600. I’m getting there a step at a time. Cannot wait for the next competition!!

To be honest the day has been very eventful it started with a flat tire on my wheelchair that no amount of pumping up would fix. Because of this the break also wouldn’t work. Yes! Things come in threes so the third thing was the sight on my bow broke (that’s what I use to see the target clearer)

I can’t complain with how it all went though. I came away with a silver medal and a score of 536/600. My next competition is in Telford the beginning of December. I aim to add at least a few more points to that score and gain another PB

I currently shoot 2 times a week and in time I hope to increase this. I’m in my last compulsory year at school so I need to get the right balance between my sport and my education….Both are very important to me!
